This new Enduron® Extruded powder is a top performer with such great cartridges as the 270 Winchester, 25-06 Remington 280 Remington and 300 Winchester Magnum and many many more. It falls directly between IMR 4451 and IMR 7977 in burn speed, providing top performance for all cartridges used for big game. As with all Enduron® powders, it is temperature insensitive, clean burning, minimizes copper fouling and is totally safe for the environment. Adding this propellant to the Enduron®line filled in an important place in the chart. IMR 4955 , plus the original three, provides top loading for cartridges from 223 Remington to the massive 500 Nitro Express Magnum.

I loaded up 15 rounds from the Hodgdon recommended minimum to maximum and shot them over a Magnetospeed. By the middle of the test my velocities were over 3200fps and I stopped before reaching the max load because of pressure signs. Compared with IMR4451 and H4350 for which I’ve done the same test, it looks like this powder will not deliver as good an SD for this particular caliber and bullet weight even though this powder is closer to 100% case fill. Ignore the stars rating, this powder might work for you if you have a different caliber.

I am a long time user of IMR 4350, but bought some of this on the recommendation of a friend for its temperature stability and copper fouling remover element. I found that not only does it shoot clean, but it delivers some serious velocity with 130 gr ballistic tips. I settled on a load that consistently produced SDs less than 20 for 10 round strings and 3150 fps avg. velocity. great stuff!
